I’d like to start off by saying I find your concept very interesting. Usually we picture the Queen of Hearts as being a strong, almost cold figure, while here you show a completely different take on her – a more vulnerable and human character. Everything from the gaze to the choice of colour suggests this.

I really like the way you’ve composed this and her body position. I think the expression would have been accentuated yet more if there were just a little more negative space on the left side of the image (just a very little more); this would really lead her gaze even more into the bottom corner and add to the strength of the expression.

The way you’ve processed this image is great. I absolutely love the texture and find it adds another dimension to the image while complementing the idea as a whole. The only thing I could think of for the post-processing of the image is that I wonder what it would look like if just the heart were red (it can be a dark red) to bring more emphasis to the fact that she is the Queen of Hearts. It’s something that if I were you I would experiment with and just give it a try – if you don’t like it, just scrap the idea.

Finally, I’d just like to say once again that I like your take on the theme: a Queen of Hearts who seems to have had her heart broken. Great post-processing that emphasizes well the concept. Consider the idea of the red heart, but ultimately it’s up to you. I think you’re definitely in the right direction!
